If there’s anything this pandemic has brought into focus, is our precious cottage country escape. No longer just a pit stop on weekends and summer months, people are digging in to access nature’s best remedy, fresh air.

With that focus in mind, here are what families are looking for in 2021.

People are searching for space they can access, utilize and organize for maximum efficiency year round not too far from their home aka their homebase, These spaces can be lakeside, or secluded in the wilderness with little to no maintenance but are also attractive and comfortable.

From technology demands and more and more of us working from home, people can now work from basically anywhere the internet is available. Further, with companies like Bell and Starlink from Elon Musk now offering high speed satellite internet access, sky’s the limit really.

These cottages or cabins aren’t necessarily owned by its occupants; they can also be rented for extended periods of time, 6, 12, 24 months etc. That makes sense when you consider the exaggerated real estate market right now. I would estimate that the cottage country real estate market is not even close to going back down in 2021.

Focus on Health and Wellbeing

These spaces don’t need to be expansive or over the top. Instead these spaces are adaptable and efficient use of square footage with instant access to the open nature. Cottage goers are thinking more deeply about the life cycle and have a deep desire to focus on their health and wellbeing. They want space that not only works for the weekends and summer months, but is flexible for longer stays if required.

This is the single most important reason families are opting for the long term rental for their secondary homebase.

Taking care of our physical and mental wellness has never been a higher priority. From the quality of the air to access to outside spaces for exercise and mindfulness, cottage goers are investing in opportunities that create the ideal work/play environment to rest, re-energize and rejuvenate.

Cottage goers are not afraid to invest in a long term rental place of sanctuary. After all, we only have one life to live!
